Cuban President Raul Castro is on his first visit to China since replacing his brother Fidel as leader four years ago.
The country is Cuba’s second largest trading partner after Venezuela.
Relations between the two communist states go back to 1960, the year after the Cuban revolution.
Castro is also due to visit Vietnam.
