Serbs protest against integration of northern Kosovo

Ethnic Serbs living in northern Kosovo have protested against plans to be integrated into the rest of the country.

Roads were blocked in several towns by demonstrators, angry at alleged Kosovan police brutality during a key religious holiday last month.

On Monday, western powers agreed to stop overseeing Kosovo’s independence, seen as fragile because of the tensions in northern Kosovo.

Kosovo’s Prime Minister Hashim Thaci promised that his administration would continue reaching out to those roughly 60,000 ethnic Serbs who have rejected independence.
