In Kenya in the eastern town of Garissa police have confirmed at least 10 people have been killed and up to 40 wounded in two separate attacks.
They happened when grenades exploded at two churches in the town which is an important military base from where ground forces have been deployed into Somalia to fight al Qaeda-linked insurgents.
The deputy police chief for the region said that the attackers were wearing balaclavas and hurled the grenades at the Catholic Church and the AIC (African Inland Church) in the town.
