US condemns all Syria violence after TV station attack

Even Syria’s President Assad now says it is a country “at war”.

As new video posted to a social media website purportedly showed a pro-regime tank in flames in Idlib province, with its crew still on board, there seems no end in sight to 16 months of conflict.

US intelligence officials say the Syrian government is digging in for a long struggle against rebels who are getting stronger.

Washington has condemned all acts of violence in Syria, including those targeting supporters of the regime, like Wednesday’s dawn bombing of a TV station.

The privately-owned, pro-government Ikhbariya
channel, south of Damascus, was stormed by gunmen who bombed buildings and killed seven people, state media said.

It is one of the most audacious attacks yet on a symbol of the authoritarian state.
