Euro 2012: Germany v Italy preview

Germany will be seeking to beat Italy for the first time in a competitive match when both sides lock horns for a place in the final of Euro 2012 in Warsaw on Thursday.

Die Mannschaft have no injury concerns ahead of the game with national team coach Joachim Loew widely expected to name Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez in his starting line up after the 26 year old was surprisingly rested in Germany’s 4-2 quarter-final win over Greece.

Meanwhile, Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini has reportedly overcome a lingering hamstring injury and could replace Juventus team-mate Leonardo Bonucci.

However doubts remain over the fitness of Daniele De Rossi and Ignazio Abate after the duo picked up knocks in their penalty shoot-out win over England in Kiev on Sunday.
