Mohamed Morsy has made his first statement as Egyptian President-elect on state television.
He used the occasion to thank all of those involved in the revolution, and to call for unity among Egyptians.
“Thank you once again to the great Egyptian people,” he said. “I will do my best for them. Thanks also to the Egyptian army and the military, I respect this institution which will play a big role in ensuring the security of the country.
Today I will be the President for all Egyptians, inside and outside, all Egyptians Muslim and Christian. Egypt today needs a united people. The revolution continues until all of its objectives are achieved,” he said.
