NASA 'detects ice' in moon crater

University and NASA scientists examining the moon claim to have detected small quantities of ice in a crater at its south pole.

They found the floor of the Shackleton crater to be brighter than others nearby.

The findings have been published in the journal Nature.

The Apollo missions to the moon found it to be dry.

If significant quantities of water were found, a permanent lunar base might be made much easier.
