EURO 2012: Germany send Greece out of Europe

There were no bailouts for Greece in Euro 2012 on Friday night after Germany beat the 2004 champions 4-2 in their quarter-final tie in Gdansk.

Defender Phillipe Lahm turned striker on 39 minutes to put Germany in the lead before Giorgos Samaras levelled for the Greeks ten minutes after the break.

Sami Khedira volleyed Germany back into the driving seat where they were to stay for the rest of the evening.

Miroslav Klose netted his 64th goal for his country on 68 minutes while Marco Reus put the game well and truly beyond the Greeks six minutes later.

Despite a late Dimitris Salpingidis penalty Germany comfortably progressed to the semis and remain on track for a fourth European title.
