Sweden has raised the security level around all 10 of its nuclear power plants after explosives were uncovered on a truck at the Ringhals nuclear plant, 70 kilometres south of Gothenburg.
Police say sniffer dogs discovered the material during a routine check within the plant’s enclosure.
Bomb disposal teams said the explosives were without a detonator and that there was no danger of an explosion.
Police are investigationg a possible sabotage attempt and, after questioning him, say they are convinced the truck driver knew nothing about the cargo.
Investigators believe the material was placed on the lorry by an outsider, but no suspects have come to light.
