Obama eases deportation rules

In Washington, the Obama administration has relaxed immigration rules on the deportation of young people taken to the US without legal status.

Illegal immigrants up to 30 years old who arrived as children can now stay in the country and can apply for work permits.

It is a softening of policy that is likely to appeal to Hispanic voters in an election year.
