Turkey’s presidential office has labelled the death of former head of state Turgut Ozal in 1993 “suspicious” and called for an investigation.

Ozal’s pro-western policies helped modernise Turkey.

He was believed to have died from heart failure, but his relatives have long alleged that he was poisoned.
