Demands grow for Russia to stop supplying Syria

Criticism of those supplying arms to Syria manifested itself at a military show in Paris.
Activists called on governments including the US to stop buying Russian-made weapons which they claim are also being used to to kill civilians in Syria.

If US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton is embarrassed about doing business with the Russian state arms exporter she is not showing it.

“We have confronted the Russians about stopping their continued arms shipments to Syria. They have from time to time, said that we shouldn’t worry – everything they are shipping is unrelated to their actions internally. that’s patently untrue. And we are concerned about the latest information we have that there are attack helicopters on the way from Russia to Syria, which will escalate the conflict quite dramatically,” said Clinton in Washington.

The US is becoming increasingly frustrated with the heightened violence in Syria. Clinton is reported to be giving the UN and Arab League-backed Peace Plan initiative just four more weeks. That is when the Security Council will have to assess whether it is worth pursuing or if other solutions to stopping the bloodshed can be found.
