Police in Peru say there are no survivors from Wednesday’s helicopter crash.
The Sikorsky went down en route from Madre de Dios to Cusco and its wreckage has been located at 4,900 metres altitude near the Mama Rosa peak.
Snow and rain have complicated rescue efforts, but all signs are that the helicopter exploded and burst into flames on impact. Debris is scattered over a 200 metres radius. Police say none of the 14 people on board could have survived the force of the impact.
The helicopter had been carrying eight Koreans working on a hydro-electric project, as well as three Europeans and three Peruvians. Efforts are now underway to recover the bodies as weather permits.
