Manuel Preciado, the new boss of Spanish football team Villarreal, has died of a heart attack only a day after being appointed to the job.
The 54-year-old was going to be presented to the media on Friday and due to take charge next season.
Preciado managed rival La Liga team Sporting de Gijón for nearly six years.
Last April, Sporting de Gijón became the first team in nine years to beat Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid.
The Spanish press are reporting Preciado was suffering from a virus before passing away at his home in Valencia.
