Greek prosecutors have issued an arrest warrant for a far-right MP who slapped a left-wing opponent on live television.

Golden Dawn spokesman Ilias Kasidiaris appeared to have been provoked when Syriza’s Rena Dourou linked him to an armed robbery in 2007.

The pair traded insults before Kasidiaris slapped Communist politician Liana Kanelli in the face after she tried to intervene.

A Greek government spokesman condemned the assault as “an attack against every democratic citizen.”

Greece is set to go the polls again on June the 17th after coalition talks failed following last month’s inconclusive election.

EU leaders fear another political deadlock could see Greece exit the euro.
