The French national football team arrived in Ukraine on Thursday ahead of their Euro 2012 opening game against England in four days time.
Les Bleus enter the tournament in fine form, having thumped Estonia 4-0 in a friendly on Tuesday.
But that did not stop French coach Laurent Blanc launching a furious broadside at his players.
The ex-Manchester United defender ranted that his back four had allowed Estonia too many chances to score.
He said on Wednesday: “I’m not going to beat around the bush. Our defence was not good enough. They need to improve and I’m talking about all four defenders.” Real Madrid man Karim Benzema grabbed two on Tuesday night. Franck Ribery and Jeremy Menez were also on target.
Apart from the Three Lions, France will also play Sweden and joint-hosts Ukraine in Group D.
