Italian players visited the infamous death camp Auschwitz on Wednesday taking time out from their Euro 2012 preparations.
During their visit teary-eyed members of the Azzurri listened intently to the tragic stories of three Italian survivors.
Before departing on the one hour trip back to their team’s base, the Italians greeted at the gates their Dutch counterparts, whose team had arrived for a brief tour of Auschwitz-Birkenau museum.
The Italians spent more than an hour at the camp where some 1.5 million, mostly Jewish, victims perished during World War II.
Before the Italian and Dutch teams toured the Auschwitz museum, several members of the German team made a special trip there on Monday.
A few England players are also expected to visit the former Nazi concentration and extermination camp before the European championships begin on Friday.
