UK Supreme Court rejects Assange extradition appeal

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange can be extradited to Sweden over alleged sex crimes, says Britain’s Supreme Court.

By a majority of five to two, it has upheld the decision of two lower courts.

It rejected Assange’s claim that a European Arrest Warrant was invalid.

The whistleblower has been fighting a lengthy legal battle since being arrested 18 months ago.

Assange denies allegations of rape and sexual assault, filed after he visited Sweden in 2010.

He gained international prominence after his Wikileaks website started leaking classified US documents.
