Medvedev takes over leadership of United Russia

Russian prime minister Dmitry Medvedev has been voted in as leader of the country’s ruling party.

He is taking over United Russia after being nominated by ally and president Vladimir Putin.

Medvedev is calling for more democracy in the party, which lost seats in the December parliamentary elections.
