Auction website eBay has been flooded with London 2012 Olympic torches for sale, after one was sold for just over 180 000 Euros by Britain’s Sarah Milner Simonds.
The 38 year old, who was hand-picked to carry the torch through Dunster in Somerset, told journalists she would donate funds to charity.
Milner Simonds, who was reportedly bombarded with abusive emails after the sale, said the winning bidder had not been in touch and added she feared it may have been a hoax.
