Passengers on a North Carolina bound plane from Paris have reached their destination following a bomb scare.
A Cameroon-born French woman had sent a note to the cockpit from her seat, claiming she had a surgically implanted device inside her.
The Boeing 767 which was carrying 188 people, was then redirected to Maine, where it landed escorted by two f-15 fighter jets. The flight later continued to its destination where passengers spoke of what they had seen:
“We were told it was a fuel shortage and before we knew it we were pulled off the runway and all the police cars and field transportation started coming, and we knew there was something else,” said one man.
Another added: “First officers came by, escorted her to the rear of the plane and then there was a lot of hullabaloo about trying to determine which bags were hers, and checking one then the other.”
The diversion came shortly after the disclosure of a foiled plot by al Qaeda’s Yemeni affiliate to bomb a US plane.
