Bigger beds for fatter patients in Danish hospitals

Hospitals in Denmark say they’re having to invest in bigger and stronger beds because patients are getting larger and fatter.

More than one in seven Danes is said to be severely overweight.

Consultants talk of stretchers breaking because patients are too heavy, and say they’ve now bought beds that are 50 percent wider and double-size wheelchairs.
