Friendship from a common cause

Architect Onur Karahan is one of our protagonists. He has always had a passion for archaeology, ever since he was a child, but he thought it would be more productive to follow his other passion, architecture.

Then one day he met Ahmet Yaras, and his life changed.

Onur tells us how his life on an archaeological dig, at the age of 19, was not at all dry and intellectual.

“There were three things that I liked to do in the evening. There was a round Roman swimming pool full of water and we used to go in along with Mehmet Agabey and my friends with some wine without the teacher knowing.

Everyone who worked there came from different parts of Turkey. But we all had the same goal, to prevent the destruction of our cultural heritage.”
