Soyuz successfully docks with ISS


Two days after blasting off from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, a Soyuz spaceship has docked with the International Space Station.

The American and two Russians on board were warmly welcomed by the ISS’s existing residents.
NASA needs Russia to get its astronauts to the orbital outpost, after the space shuttles’ retirement.

The ISS is now awaiting the upcoming arrival of the first private spacecraft to be sent there.
