Ukraine ups security ahead of Euro 2012


With less than a month to go before the main event, Ukrainian authorities announced on Tuesday that over 10 000 police men would be called upon to increase security at the upcoming European Championships in Poland and Ukraine.

Earlier this month, visiting fans were warned that racist Ukrainian football thugs could provide a flashpoint for violence.

Uefa stressed it remains confident in the country’s authorities to stage a, “smooth and festive” Euro.

Warsaw has the honour of kickstarting the party on the 8th of June while Kiev will wrap things up with the final on 1rst of July.
