The dismembered bodies of 49 people have been found in plastic bags on the side of a road just outside the northern Mexico city of Monterrey.
The gruesome find included the remains of 43 men and six women.
Authorities think one of the country’s brutal drug cartels has struck again as deadly rivalry continues to lead to thousands of deaths every year.
The latest discovery comes after the decapitated and dismembered bodies of 18 people were found near Mexico’s second-largest city, Guadalajara last Wednesday.
More than 50,000 people have been killed in violence since the Mexican government sent in the army as part of a crackdown on drug gangs six years ago.
The decision has backfired and many analysts predict the country’s ruling conservatives will be punished by voters during elections on July 1.
