Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is to call a snap election within four months. The next national vote was not due until October 2013, but he wants to avoid his coalition unravelling over some controversial legislation. The poll could strengthen his right-wing Likud party as he confronts Iran over its nuclear ambitions.
