The family of al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden who was killed by US Special Forces nearly a year ago, were taken over night from a house in Islamabad and deported to Saudi Arabia.
The move ends months of speculation over the fate of the three widows and 11 children who have been held in Pakistan since the US raid.
Earlier this month the women were imprisoned for entering Pakistan illegally. The deportation order to the country of their choice follows their release.
With the anniversary of bin Laden’s death next week the US is reviewing potential threats and possible militant attacks both at home and on its citizens abroad.
