Mitt Romney declared victory on Tuesday in the race to be the Republican presidential nominee after he won primaries in five northeastern states.
The former private equity executive told supporters that Obama’s policies had failed America and that he would seek to divert attention from his record on the economy.
“Because he has failed, he will run a campaign of diversions and distractions and distortions,” Romney said.
“It is still about the economy and we are not stupid.”
As Romney ramped up the rhetoric on the campaign trail, the current commander-in-chief appeared on the popular chat show ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon’.
The comic is popular with students and young adults; a key demographic that helped Obama into the White House four years ago.
Obama told the audience that he wanted to keep lower interest rates on federal college loans, which are set to double on July 1st.
