Former Turkish police chief goes to jail

Former Turkish head of police, Mehmet Ağar,has been handed a five year jail sentences, 15 years after a scandal exposed links between the police, the Mafia and politicians.

The prosecution of Ağar – who is also a former interior minister – became possible when he lost his all important parliamentary immunity.
