Protesters describing themselves as members of one of Syria’s newest political parties rallied outside the country’s finance ministry on Thursday.
They said they belonged to the ‘Syria The Nation’ group, a previously unknown party.
“Our political party is protesting today against inflation, the poor distribution of products and the monopolies enjoyed by some businessmen,” said one of the demostrators. “Unfortunately there is a complete lack of control shown by the government.”
A UN-backed peace plan aimed at ending one year of unrest says the government must allow peaceful demonstrations to place.
