Love and chaos at Cannes 2012

The line-up for the 2012 Cannes Film Festival has been announced in the French capital and promises a blend of Hollywood star power with cinematic offerings from across the globe.

Festival Director Thierry Fremaux summed up this years festival package:

“If we had to qualify the films on offer in a few words I would say love, chaos, suffering and generosity.”

The 65th edition of the biggest film festival on the planet opens on May 16 and Brad Pitt will be on the red carpet to promote ‘Killing Them Softly,’ directed by New Zealander Andrew Dominik, and co-starring ‘The Sopranos’ James Gandolfini. The film sees Pitt investigating a heist during a mob-protected poker game.

The Cannes opener is US director Wes Anderson’s 1960s drama ‘Moonrise Kingdom,’ starring Bruce Willis and Bill Murray.

The festival runs from the 16 to the 27 of May.
