North Korea’s fresh-faced new leader has made his first speech in public.
Kim Jong-un took to the podium, after soldiers and sailors showcased the hermit state’s military might in Pyongyang’s central square.
The North is celebrating the centenary of its founder’s birth.
“The flag of our great comrades Kim Il-Sung and Kim Jong-il will fly forever,” he said.
“Our revolutionary members fight for victory and honour and the flag will always encourage and lead us to new victory.”
They were bullish words from the 20-something leader who, just a few days ago, was left blushing after a much-hyped rocket launch failed.
Critics believe it was part of a bid to develop a ballistic missile, capable of carrying a nuclear warhead.
