Syria neighbours hope ceasefire holds

With more than 150,000 refugees crossing into neighbouring countries, Turkish, Jordanian and Lebanese officials hope the Syrian ceasefire holds, said Middle East commentators on Thursday.

Thousands more are expected to arrive at refugee centres, despite a lull in the fighting.

There are 25,000 registered refugees in Turkey and Jordanian officials claim as many as 80,000 unregistered Syrians may be in their territory.

euronews correspondent Mustafa Bag at the Reyhanli refugee camp in Turkey witnessed more Syrians attempting to cross the border on Thursday, ignoring calls from the Syrian government to return home as the ceasefire took hold.
