Two gay men were freed on Friday, a day after being arrested during a protest in St Petersburg under a by-law that bans so-called “homosexual propaganda.”

The pair were protesting against the legislation, a version of which is before the Russian parliament.
They could now be fined one hundred and thirty euros.
