Facebook is striking back by filing its own lawsuit after Yahoo filed one accusing the social networking site of violating patents.
Yahoo’s case claims that Facebook infringed on 10 patents including advertising, privacy controls and social networking.
In turn, Tuesday’s suit launched by Facebook alleges that the internet giant violated ten of its patents – among them photo tagging, advertising and online recommendations.
Responding to the legal action, Yahoo says the suit is “without merit and nothing more than a cynical attempt to distract from the weakness of its (Facebook’s) defence.”
Facebook is seeking unspecified damages and for Yahoo’s case to be dropped.
