A series of demonstrations took place across America on Saturday dedicated to Trayvon Martin, who was killed one month ago.

Protesters are angry that the man who shot the unarmed 17-year-old has not been arrested by the police.

In Trayvon’s memory, people wore same type of hooded sweatshirt he had on when he died.

The black teenager was killed in Florida by a neighbourhood watch captain who thought he was acting suspiciously.

Earlier this week, US President Barack Obama expressed his sympathy for the young man’s parents and said: “If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon.”

State and federal police are investigating 28-year-old George Zimmerman, who is mixed race white-Hispanic, and claims he shot in self-defence.

Before he died, Trayvon was apparently walking through the gated community carrying a soft drink and a bag of sweets.
