A former Russian banker is being kept under armed guard in hospital being sprayed with bullets outside his East London flat.
German Gorbuntsov was shot several times on Tuesday as he entered his home near Canary Wharf, the British capital’s financial district.
Details of the shooting only emerged late on Friday.
The attacker is described as being a tall, slim, white man and wearing dark clothing.
Police are treating the attack as suspected murder.
Gorbuntsov once owned several banks in Russia and Moldova, where he remains on a wanted list for alleged embezzlement.
He was reportedly a suspect and a witness in an attack by ethnic Chechens on another Russian financier in Moscow three years ago.
