Trade and fisheries were some of the top issues in Europe this week. The European Commission, the EU’s executive arm, unveiled new plans to block non-EU firms from tapping into the bloc’s public procurement sector should countries outside the EU persistently keep their markets closed.

European fisheries ministers also met in Brussels to discuss a ban to stop fishing vessels dumping tons of fish at sea when they exceed their quotas. Apparently, good progress was made, though no deal has been signed yet.

Finally, the EU and IMF also disbursed the first slice of the second Greek bailout. Some socialist MEPs, however, called for an alternative approach to Greece. We spoke to one of them. To see that and more, click on the link above.
