Libyan army conscripts have held a military parade to celebrate the anniversary of their victory in the battle for Benghazi.
It is a year since forces loyal to Muammar Gaddafi were pushed back as they tried to retake control of the rebel stronghold. For the first time in the civil war, rebels used a fighter jet in their struggle against the late leader’s military might.
A memorial was unveiled to the 170 or so rebels who died in the clashes.
The same day, March 19, saw the start of the biggest international military intervention in the Arab world since the invasion of Iraq in 2003.
