Parliamentarians stand silent


Members of the European Parliament were united in grief when they stood silent in tribute to those killed in the Swiss coach crash.

In a brief but deeply moving speech Martin Schulz, President of the European Parliament resonated the mood in the chamber.

“Everyone here in this house, if you’ve got children or if you remember the relationship with your parents, can certainly understand what it means to send the children on a holiday trip, and it is the coffins that come back,” he said.
