Children wounded in Gaza after Israeli air strikes

Israeli war planes carried out new air strikes on Gaza on Sunday night. Medics say three people were killed including a 12-year-old boy.

Witnesses said one strike hit a family home injuring several children.

Israel confirmed the strikes had taken place but claimed they had targeted a weapons storage facility and four rocket launching sites.

The cross border violence has increased since Friday when Israeli jets killed the head of a militant group prompting a barrage of Palestinian rocket fire.

In southern Israel in the town of Ashkelon residents are spending a fourth day under siege.
The onslaught of rockets has forced them indoors.

On Sunday about 50 were fired into the area causing damage to buildings but no injuries. Israel’s military says it has intercepted around half of the Palestinian rockets.
