Four Palestinian militants have been killed in Israeli air strikes in Gaza in an apparent repraisal for a rocket attack on Israel.
Gaza’s Islamist Hamas rulers say two militant leaders died in a missile attack on a car in Gaza City. The two other Palestinians were killed in separate air strikes later in the day.
One of the victims of the first incident was said to have been a leader of the Popular Resistance Committees, an umbrella group for armed factions.
The Israeli army claimed he had been preparing an attack on its territory from across the Egyptian border.
No one was injured the rocket attacks on Israel.
