The Turkish prime minister has unveiled the new symbol for his country’s currency, the lira. It was chosen from more than 8,000 entries in a competition to come up with a new design. Reccep Tayip Erdogan said the symbol is part of efforts to strengthen the currency, which was created in 2005.
