French journalist Bouvier arrives in Lebanon

French journalist Edith Bouvier, who was wounded during the Syrian government’s assault on Homs’ Baba Amro district, is safe after arriving in Lebanon.

On the sidelines of the EU leaders’ summit in Brussels, French President Nicolas Sarkozy confirmed that Bouvier and photographer William Daniels are under the protection of the French embassy in Beirut.

Bouvier was injured in the same shelling of the rebel-controlled district that killed veteran correspondent Marie Colvin from the UK’s Sunday Times last week.

The two were due to be flown home on a French government plane on Thursday night.
