Former South African President Nelson Mandela is back home after a night in hospital during which he underwent a keyhole abdominal examination.
To the relief of the entire nation, the 93-year-old anti-apartheid icon has been told there is nothing to worry about.
Details of the hospitalisation were given by the ruling ANC.
“It was a diagnostic exercise that they wanted to carry out to determine what’s causing the abdominal complaints and he has been discharged and he’s now resting at home,” said spokesman Keith Khoza.
Mandela has been in poor health since suffering respiratory problems last year and no longer makes public appearances. But he remains a national figurehead nonetheless.
