City complain over racist taunts

Premier League side Manchester City have lodged an official complaint with European football’s governing body after Italian international Mario Balotelli claimed he was racially abused during Thursday’s Euroleague clash away to Porto.

After what sounded like monkey noises being directed at the 21 year old during the first half, the forward then said he was subjected to racist abuse when he was substituted with only ten minutes to go before the final whistle.

The incident overshadowed an outstanding second-half performance by Roberto Mancini’s men, who overturned a one-goal deficit to take a precious 2-1 lead into the second leg.

Both sides will next lock horns on the 22nd of February.
