French Revolution film opens Berlinale Among the stars up for and collecting awards at this year’s Berlin International Film Festival was the cinematic tour de force that is Meryl Streep, who was honoured with the Festival’s Honorary Golden Bear award for lifetime achievement.
Actor turned Director Billy Bob Thornton was also in attendance, no doubt hoping his latest flick, ‘Jayne Mansfield’s Car’, which he stars in and directs, will win the award for Best International Film. Thornton however, faces strong competition from the likes of previous Silver Bear Best actress award winner Nina Hoss, who plays the lead in ‘Barbara’, one of the three German movies, which are also nominated for the prize.
