Europe’s big freeze and Greece’s on-going economic tragedy were this week’s big issues.

The Greek government’s EU partners continue to remain unconvinced by the debt stricken country’s latest attempts to push through austerity.

At a Eurogroup summit in Brussels finance ministers insisted more proof was needed before they would sign off on another huge bailout, despite the fact that Greece is on the verge of default.

Ironically, the latest twists in Europe’s debt crisis came as the euro’s founding fathers celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Maastricht Treaty, the deal that would see the birth of the single currency.

We also speak to Hrant Kostanyan from the Centre for European Policy Studies about the latest disruption of Russian gas supplies to Europe.
