On Friday EU leaders will meet their Indian counterparts in New Delhi for a crucial summit, the 12th of its kind.

The prize is to sign a massive free-trade deal, one of the world’s biggest by population – a staggering 1.8 billion people.

But, major hurdles, particularly in the car and IT sectors, remain. What are the chances of the EU and India striking a deal? We speak to Axel Goethals, from the European Institute for Asian Studies.
